The city represents the center of economic growth and technological advances and cultural production. It is part of us. It defines our lives, our traditions and our language. Man is a social and political animal; this supports the fact that the cities began due to the needs of people to get food, group protection and form relationships with others members of the same species. The first cities where clearly defined with walls. Nowadays, these boundaries are represented in a “virtual” way. A well organized city must cover several needs: living, working, studying, recreating, and many more. It is a complex system because it has both good and bad things: communication, pollution, poverty, people, money, public spaces and green areas. All of this must be considered and covered to guarantee the life of millions of people. In the last decades, due to the overpopulation, professionals have invented a new system: sustainable cities. This new cities are based on three fundamental elements: economy, ecology and equity. They pursue what we call COMMONWEALTH, a good life for everybody.
